Saw the “oops, did I say that?” clip I’m posting below, earlier when Randi Rhodes sent it out, but an email from MoveOn actually has the transcript which makes it all even better! It’s a delightfully juicy tidbit for me since I had actually been watching the MSNBC interview Chuck Todd was having with Mike Murphy and Peggy Noonan when it ran live, so now this bonus ‘after the fact’ snafu makes it much more enjoyable. Grab the popcorn, folks. And Jesse Jackson must be glad to see the ‘hot mic’ video/audio works both ways. (Sidenote: Did anyone else see the sign someone was holding in the crowd during MSNBC coverage that said “Your blunder war is showing“? Hi-lar-i-ous!)
I would write more, but I’m too nauseated after watching moron Mitt Romney spewing forth one idiotic comment after another during his RNC speech. (We sure dodged a bullet on THAT one–hope we continue to.) Off I go to watch Mike Huckabee speak. I should probably grab some pliers on the way since I’m sure he’ll need some help getting his foot out of his mouth from his usual inappropriate attempts at humor. (Oooh, speaking of humor, click here for a funny take on Peggy Noonan’s blunder.)
Dear MoveOn member,
It’s funny what Republican pundits say when they think nobody’s watching.
Today, John McCain’s former campaign chief Mike Murphy and former Reagan
speechwriter Peggy Noonan were caught on tape after an NBC interview. They
shared their real thoughts on McCain’s judgment in selecting Alaska
Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Noonan asked, “The most qualified? No.” She called the selection of Palin
“political [B.S.].” Murphy called McCain’s selection gimmicky and cynical.
The video and transcript are below. This is a breaking story today–it’s
on many top blogs and is climbing the YouTube charts.
If we act fast, we can give it more momentum and help it get more
attention. Can you forward this video to your friends today? (We’ve also
formed a Facebook group that you can join here.) Here’s the video:
The transcript’s below. Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Trouble seeing the video? Try the link below:
Mike Murphy, former McCain advisor: You know, because I come out of the
blue swing state governor work. Engler, Whitman, Thompson, Mitt Romney,
Jeb Bush. And these guys, this is all like how you want to (inaudible)
this race. You know, just run it up. And it’s not gonna work.
Peggy Noonan, former Reagan speechwriter: It’s over.
Murphy: Still, McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do
himself some good.
NBC’s Chuck Todd: Don’t you think the Palin pick was insulting to Kay
Bailey Hutchinson, too (inaudible)
Noonan: I saw Kay this morning.
Murphy: They’re all bummed out.
Todd: I mean, is she really the most qualified woman they could have
Noonan: The most qualified? No. I think they went for this, excuse me,
political [B.S.] about narratives and (inaudible) the picture.
Murphy: I totally agree.
Noonan: Every time the Republicans do that because that’s not where they
live and it’s not what they’re good at and they blow it.
Murphy: You know what’s really the worst thing about it? The greatness of
McCain is no cynicism and this is cynical.
Todd: And as you called it, gimmicky.
